This earthy lamp features a unique shade utilizing natural jute string with tan fabric backing. The base features a combination of natural materials – aged wood and metal – offering a rustic and comfortable look perfect for today’s more casual homes.
The Appalachian States of Virginia, West Virginia, the Carolina’s and Tennessee were hotbeds of American Arts & Crafts workshops in the period 1900-1920 and continuing on even today. In these shops craftswomen had made shades of natural jut string with a tan fabric backing. These shades were hot sellers in ‘tony’ big city department stores. Quoizel has reproduced this artistry in a new String Shade table lamp using genuine jute string and authentic tan cotton fabric backing. They also reproduced a C1910 base designing featuring both aged wood and faux hammered metal. The overall effect is rustic, comfortable and casual – perfect for today’s lifestyle. 29” tall, shade is 12” high and 19” overall wide, great for reading with a 150-watt bulb on 3-way socket switch. Fine detailing like the broad-footed underbase.
